Have you ever considered what your legacy will be?  How people will remember you?  What future generations will say about you?  Legacy is such an interesting concept, and for most of us the very word “legacy” conjures up notions and ideas involving super wealth, vast estates, and enormous empires.  I hope to convince you that your legacy will likely have nothing to do with those images, and in many cases won’t even involve wealth.  Your legacy will likely be recorded by history in non-financial terms: what your values were, what your impact on the community was, and who you were to people that loved you the most. read more

Mackinac Island

As a boy growing up in Traverse City, my family would usually venture to the magical island between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan that we affectionately call Mackinac (or Mackinaw if you prefer).  I don’t believe that I am alone in thinking that my childhood memories may be very similar to many other people’s view of the island.  I hope to encourage you to reconsider that view and re-explore this gem of the Straits of Mackinac. read more
